Chapter Eighteen

Reduction Schedules

The reduction schedules listed below may be used exactly as written or as an example for you, your physician, or your pharmacist. Compounding the medication at a pharmacy is still the ideal method to reduce a dosage for tapering.

We have not listed all medication reduction schedules, nor have we listed all possible dosages a person might be taking at any given moment. If the medication reduction schedules listed in this chapter do not fit your dosage or type of medication, print off or take this book to your physician or pharmacist to be used as an example. They can use this as a guideline or an example of how a reduction might be prescribed.

How to Use the Reduction Schedules

Locate the exact drug you are taking and photocopy the page to share with your physician and pharmacist. Only reduce the medication every 14-days.

We urge the healthcare provider not to switch a patient from a tablet form of a drug to a liquid for the ease of reduction. Switching from tablet to liquid will cause an adverse reaction.

The information on this page, and all pages with drug reduction schedules, are for informational purposes only. None of this text should be viewed or taken as medical advice. The Road Back expects you will provide this information to your healthcare provider.
